Wildlife Week Concludes in Nava Raipur; Winners of Creative and Knowledge-Based Competitions Honoured

Young talents promoting wildlife conservation were honoured on Thursday at the Dandakaranya Auditorium in Aranya Bhawan, Nava Raipur, during the concluding ceremony of Wildlife Week. Students who excelled in various art-based and knowledge-oriented competitions were felicitated for their efforts to spread awareness about environmental protection and biodiversity conservation.
Wildlife Week Celebrated Under the Theme of Natural Habitats
Under the guidance of Forest Minister Kedar Kashyap, the Forest and Climate Change Department and the Raipur Forest Division organised Wildlife Week from October 2 to 8, in collaboration with the Green Group and Department of Zoology of Kalinga University.
The theme of the week was “Connecting Natural Habitats, Thriving Wildlife.” Through various activities, students explored the importance of nature, biodiversity and the conservation of wildlife and their natural habitats.
Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and Head of Forest Force Arun Kumar Pandey, along with other senior officials, attended the concluding ceremony.

Creative Activities Highlight Conservation Awareness
Throughout the week, students participated in a range of activities, including making paper shapes and nest models, preparing seed balls, wildlife photography and nature walks.
These activities were designed to help students understand the importance of protecting wildlife and preserving their natural habitats. The programme also provided a platform for young participants to express their environmental awareness through creativity and practical engagement with nature.
Winners of Short Film-Making Competition
In the short film-making competition, students from Kalinga University secured the first three positions.

- Third: Varsha Sahu

Essay Competition Winners Announced
In the essay-writing competition, students from different educational institutions were recognised for their performances.
- First: Shreya Sahu, Kendriya Vidyalaya
- Second: Shailya Sahu, Government Higher Secondary School, Uparwara
- Third: Akash Das, PM Shri Swami Atmanand School, Mana Camp
Hema of PM Shri Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Mana Camp, and Deepika Sahu of Government Higher Secondary School, Ganod, received consolation prizes.
Encouraging Young People to Protect Biodiversity
The competitions and nature-based activities organised during Wildlife Week gave students an opportunity to engage with environmental conservation and understand their responsibility towards biodiversity.
The concluding ceremony recognised the creative contributions of students who used art, knowledge and imagination to communicate the importance of wildlife protection.
