Organized under Seva Pakhwada and Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, the event in Rajnandgaon spreads awareness on healthy lifestyle and social responsibility

As part of the Chhattisgarh Rajat Mahotsav, Seva Pakhwada and the nationwide Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, the Department of Social Welfare, in collaboration with Samata Jan Kalyan Samiti, organized a Service Marathon at the International Astroturf Hockey Stadium in Rajnandgaon. The event aimed at spreading the message of a drug-free society and promoting positive lifestyle choices among citizens.

The marathon was flagged off by Mayor Madhusudan Yadav, who lauded the initiative as a meaningful step against the rising addiction problem. He urged the youth to shun substance abuse and focus on building a healthy future. Chief Executive Officer of the District Panchayat, Ms. Suruchi Singh, emphasized that the purpose of the Service Marathon was not only to raise awareness about the dangers of addiction but also to inspire society towards fitness, discipline, and constructive thinking.

She further noted that through Samata Jan Kalyan Samiti, several de-addiction centers are being run across districts to educate the public about the harmful effects of drugs. She highlighted the growing influence of addiction among youth due to social media and stress, stressing the importance of yoga, exercise, and participation in such community activities.
Samata Jan Kalyan Samiti President Shishupal Khobragade called for public cooperation in building a drug-free and healthier society. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, sportspersons, differently-abled participants, social workers, and a large number of city residents.

Competitions were held in multiple categories, including a 5 km and 2 km run for men and women, as well as special races for differently-abled groups such as orthopedically challenged, visually impaired, intellectually disabled, and hearing impaired participants. Winners were awarded certificates, mementos, and cash prizes, with the top three in each category receiving ₹3,100, ₹2,100, and ₹1,100 respectively, while consolation prizes and special recognition were also distributed.
The marathon concluded in a spirited yet disciplined atmosphere, with participants carrying home not only certificates and prizes but also a strong social message of unity, health, and drug-free living.
