Joint Session of Agricultural Scientists from Rajnandgaon, Durg, and Balod Focuses on Technology Outreach and Crop Planning

A comprehensive meeting of the Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) was held at the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Surgi, in Rajnandgaon, under the joint aegis of KVKs from Rajnandgaon, Durg, and Balod districts. The session was organized under the guidance of Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya (IGKV), Raipur.
During the meeting, senior scientists and heads from the three districts presented a detailed review of the 2024–25 agricultural progress and the proposed action plan for 2025–26. The event emphasized strengthening the outreach of agricultural extension activities and innovative technologies among farmers.
Dr. Neeta Khare, Director of Extension Services, IGKV, offered key suggestions for improving the effectiveness of KVKs. She emphasized the need for widespread dissemination of new technologies and recommended organizing pre-season training sessions for farmers to prepare them adequately for the cropping cycle.

Farmers in attendance engaged in discussions on topics such as artificial insemination as a tool for livestock breed improvement and the growing concern of panicle mite infestation in paddy crops. Various practical solutions were proposed and evaluated.
The meeting saw the participation of notable dignitaries including Dr. Deepti Jha and Dr. Jyoti Bhatt (Principal Scientists), Dr. Vinmrata Jain (Dean, College of Agriculture, Rajnandgaon), Dr. Avinash Gupta (Dean, College of Agriculture, Chhuikhadan), and officials from the Department of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry from all three districts.
Senior scientists and KVK heads Dr. Gunjan Jha, Dr. K.R. Sahu, Dr. Vijay Jain, and Shri Bisesar Das Sahu (Board Member, ATARI Jabalpur) also took part, along with subject matter experts and progressive farmers from the region. The meeting concluded with valuable recommendations aimed at empowering farmers through science-led growth.
