The electoral picture for the Rajnandgaon Press Club elections has become clear after the completion of the nomination withdrawal process. A total of 10 candidates are now in the fray for the posts of president, secretary and treasurer, generating considerable excitement among journalists in the district.
Direct Contest for President
The election for the president’s post will witness a direct contest between current president Sachin Agrahari and Kamlesh Swarnkar.

Sachin Agrahari has already served two consecutive terms as the president of the Press Club. If he wins this election, it will mark his third consecutive term, effectively making it a hat-trick victory. The tenure for the president of the Press Club is three years.
Kamlesh Swarnkar had previously prepared to contest the election twice but withdrew his nomination on both occasions. This time, however, he has decided to remain in the race and is directly contesting against the incumbent.
Earlier, candidates including Sanjay Rajput, Ajay Soni, Jagga Mishra and Vijay Kanuga withdrew their nominations, leaving the two candidates in a straight contest.

For the secretary’s post, senior journalist Anil Tripathi is once again contesting the election. Tripathi has been serving as the secretary for the past two terms—around six years—and is seeking a third consecutive term.
Other candidates contesting for the post include Vikram Vajpeyi, Surendra Gupta, Manoj Rathore and Yogesh Sharma. With five candidates in the race, the secretary’s election is expected to be highly competitive.
Triangular Contest for Treasurer
The treasurer’s post will see a triangular contest between Basant Sharma, Pramod Shende and Ravi Thakur.
Interesting Aspect of the Election
An interesting aspect of this election is that the current president Sachin Agrahari, secretary Anil Tripathi and treasurer Basant Sharma are all contesting again, and political observers believe that each has a strong chance of being re-elected.

Surprisingly, however, the three candidates are not contesting as a formal panel this time. There has been no joint campaign or shared appeal issued by them. Although the three were seen visiting a temple together recently, it is not being considered part of a coordinated election panel.
Voting tomorrow
Voting for the Press Club elections will take place from 10 AM to 2 PM tomorow. The counting of votes will begin immediately afterward, and the results are expected to be announced by late evening.
