Rajnandgaon Police Intensifies Security Preparations for Ganesh Utsav

SP Ankita Sharma Holds Coordination Meeting with More Than 70 Ganesh Utsav Committees to Finalise Integrated Security Plan

The Rajnandgaon Police has stepped up preparations to ensure that the upcoming Ganesh Utsav is celebrated peacefully, safely and in an organised manner. As part of the security planning, Superintendent of Police Ankita Sharma held an important meeting on Tuesday at the Police Office with representatives of more than 70 Ganesh Utsav committees from across the city.

Additional Superintendent of Police Keertan Rathore, the City Superintendent of Police, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Cyber) and all Station House Officers of the city were present at the meeting.

Detailed discussions were held with the festival committees on law and order, crowd management, traffic arrangements and maintaining social harmony during the celebrations.

‘One Cop – One Pandal’ Initiative

The Rajnandgaon Police announced a special “One Cop – One Pandal” initiative to strengthen coordination during Ganesh Utsav.

Under the initiative, “Pandal Police Mitra” personnel will be deployed at large, medium-sized and sensitive Ganesh pandals. These designated police personnel will maintain continuous coordination between the respective Ganesh Utsav committees and the police.

The initiative aims to strengthen security arrangements at pandals, manage the movement of devotees and ensure immediate police assistance in the event of an emergency.

Separate Entry and Exit Routes, CCTV and Fire Safety

During the meeting, special emphasis was placed on establishing separate entry and exit routes, proper barricading, queue arrangements for devotees, parking and traffic management at Ganesh pandals.

The committees were instructed to ensure that routes for ambulances, fire brigades and other emergency vehicles remain open at all times.

Pandal organisers were also directed to ensure the installation of CCTV cameras, adequate lighting, safe electrical wiring and proper fire-safety arrangements.

Special attention was sought for the safety and convenience of women, children, elderly persons and devotees with disabilities. Committees were also advised to deploy an adequate number of identifiable volunteers at the pandals.

Police to Keep Watch on Rumours and Anti-Social Activities

SP Ankita Sharma appealed to the committees to celebrate Ganesh Utsav with religious devotion and enthusiasm while maintaining discipline and responsibility.

The committees were urged to immediately inform the police about any rumour, dispute or suspicious activity.

The police made it clear that incidents involving misconduct under the influence of intoxicants, display of weapons, gambling and betting, or other anti-social activities would not be tolerated under any circumstances during the festival.

Citizens were also appealed to refrain from spreading rumours or misleading information on social media. People were advised to immediately inform the police if they notice any suspicious person or object.

‘Every Devotee Should Have a Safe Darshan of Lord Ganesha’

Superintendent of Police Ankita Sharma said Ganesh Utsav is an integral part of the proud cultural tradition of Rajnandgaon district.

She said the police’s endeavour is to ensure that every devotee can have darshan of Lord Ganesha in a safe environment during the festival of faith and enthusiasm.

She further said that the police and Ganesh Utsav committees would work through mutual coordination and cooperation so that the festival is conducted in a peaceful, safe and organised manner.
