Rajnandgaon Municipal Corporation Steps Up Monsoon Preparedness, Focuses on Drinking Water, Sanitation and Road Repairs

The Rajnandgaon Municipal Corporation has intensified its monsoon preparedness and civic service operations to ensure better facilities for residents during the rainy season.

The civic body is focusing on drinking water supply, sanitation, drainage, road repairs, street lighting, maintenance of parks and removal of encroachments. Complaints received from residents are being addressed promptly, with corrective action taken at the concerned locations.

Drinking Water Supply Restored

The Municipal Corporation has completed improvement work on the filter plant and filter beds at the water treatment facility.

Technical issues caused by muddy water from the Shivnath River have been resolved, restoring regular drinking water supply to the city. Water distribution has also been strengthened through interconnections in Anupam Nagar and other areas.

Special Drain Cleaning in Waterlogging-Prone Areas

Special cleaning of drains has been carried out beneath the flyover, at Nandai Chowk and other waterlogging-prone locations.

Regular garbage collection is being carried out from temporary waste collection points on Dongargarh Road, Khairagarh Road and behind Digvijay College.

Waterlogging in underbridges is being addressed through pump houses. Temporary drains are also being constructed to drain water from private plots where waterlogging has occurred.

Road Repairs and Street Light Maintenance

In view of the upcoming Ganesh festival, patchwork and pothole repair work has been taken up on major roads, including areas around the bus stand.

Faulty street lights at Farhad Chowk, Dongargarh Road and other locations have been repaired. Repair work on the high-mast light located along the GE Road is also underway.

Plantation and Park Beautification Planned

Following good rainfall, plantation drives will be conducted along city dividers and other suitable locations.

The Municipal Corporation has also initiated work for the maintenance and beautification of parks across the city, including the Collectorate Garden.

Action Against Encroachments and Illegal Construction

Instructions have been issued to address damaged drains near Sheetla Temple in Ward No. 42, the Kanchanbag water tank area and wastewater drainage issues near Sheetla Talab.

Notices have also been issued to individuals involved in encroachments and illegal construction in Janata Colony, Lakholi and other areas. Joint enforcement drives with the Traffic Police are continuing.

Stray Cattle and Aggressive Dogs Being Managed

The Municipal Corporation is conducting daily drives to catch stray cattle and send them to the cattle shelter. Night-time drives are also continuing.

The dog catcher team is taking action against stray and aggressive dogs while also conducting sterilisation drives.

Security Measures Strengthened at Rani Sagar

Following the theft of railings at Rani Sagar Talab, a police complaint has been filed and increased night patrolling has been requested.

An estimate is also being prepared for renovation, drainage and repair work at the old shopping complex at Ganj Chowk.

Notices have been issued to beneficiaries of shops constructed under the Chief Minister’s Self-Reliance Scheme for completing the required agreements. In case of non-compliance, allotments may be cancelled as per rules and vacant shops will be re-allotted.

Municipal Commissioner G.R. Markam said continuous monitoring is being carried out through coordination among various departments during the monsoon season to ensure clean, safe and improved civic services for residents.
