Rajnandgaon Collector Jitendra Yadav directed officials to accelerate road construction works under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) and ensure completion of all approved and ongoing projects before the onset of the monsoon season.
During a field visit to Masoom village in Rajnandgaon development block, the Collector inspected the under-construction road connecting Patewa to Pendri. Demonstrating hands-on supervision, he personally measured the thickness of the road at multiple locations to assess construction quality and reviewed the progress achieved so far.

Emphasising that rural connectivity is a key component of development, the Collector instructed officials and construction agencies to strictly adhere to quality standards and timelines. He stated that villagers should not face transportation difficulties due to delays or substandard work.
Strict Emphasis on Quality and Safety
The Collector sought detailed information regarding materials used, layering processes, and the status of bitumen surfacing. He warned that no compromise would be tolerated in quality and directed the construction agency to conduct regular technical testing throughout the project.
He also instructed engineers to strengthen road shoulders to enhance durability and longevity. Clear signage boards at necessary locations and proper barricading at construction sites were also mandated to ensure commuter safety and smooth traffic movement.

Positive Response from Villagers
During the inspection, the Collector interacted with local residents and gathered feedback regarding the project. Villagers expressed satisfaction, stating that the new road would significantly improve access to schools, markets, and healthcare facilities. Earlier, commuting during the monsoon season posed major challenges, which are expected to ease once the road becomes operational.

The Collector also informed farmers about provisions under the Pradhan Mantri Annadata Aay Sanrakshan Abhiyan (PM-AASHA) scheme. He highlighted that procurement of pulses and oilseeds at Minimum Support Price is being carried out through 15 cooperative societies in the district, aimed at improving farmers’ income. Farmers were encouraged to expand cultivation of pulses and oilseeds and complete timely registration.
PMGSY Executive Engineer Padmasambhav Mishra, Assistant Engineer Sushil Savarkar, Sub-Engineer Nidhi Dave, and other departmental officials were present during the inspection.
