Large Crowd Attends Veer Mela; Grand Religious Celebrations Continue Across City

A spiritually vibrant atmosphere prevailed in Rajnandgaon as the Sakal Jain Shri Sangh organised a grand Veer Sandesh Yatra to mark the beginning of the Mahavir Jan Kalyanak Mahotsav being celebrated from March 27 to March 31.

The religious festival commenced early morning at 6:00 AM with the Veer Sandesh Yatra, aimed at spreading the teachings and values of Lord Mahavira. More than 400 devotees participated in the procession, creating a devotional and festive environment across the city.

Series of Religious and Cultural Events

According to organisers, the five-day Mahotsav features a variety of spiritual, social, and cultural programmes every day. Following the yatra, a religious cricket league match was organised at the newly constructed hall in Jain Bageecha at 10:00 AM, witnessing enthusiastic participation from members of the Jain community.

Devotional activities continued throughout the day, including Veer Prasadam and sherbet distribution at Terapanth Bhawan, Ramadhin Marg, and a spiritual meditation session at Shri Gyan Vallabh Upashray. A Veer Mela was also organised at Jain Sthanak Bhawan in Sadar Bazaar, where visitors enjoyed decorative stalls and traditional delicacies.

The evening concluded with semifinal and final matches of the religious cricket tournament held at Jain Bageecha.

Upcoming Programmes on March 28

Organisers informed that the celebrations will continue on Saturday with another Veer Sandesh Yatra starting at 6:00 AM from Mahavir Sun City. Spiritual sessions including Darshanachar Sadhana and Veer Stuti will be held near the new Sthanak Bhawan in Basantpur.

Additional activities scheduled for the day include a traditional Gahuli competition, Veer Prasadam distribution at Pendri Hospital, and a special cooking class by renowned Nagpur-based chef Neeraj Jain at Jain Bageecha. The day will conclude with Musical Housie and an impromptu speech competition in the evening.

The event information was shared by media in-charge Vimal Hajra. Community leaders and organising committee members actively coordinated the arrangements to ensure successful celebrations.
