Ashish Sharma Says Modi Is Carrying Forward the Atal-Advani Ideological Legacy with New Energy

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the residence of senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former Deputy Prime Minister Lal Krishna Advani on Wednesday, as he completed 25 years as a head of government. During the meeting, Modi sought Advani’s blessings and expressed his regard for the veteran leader’s decades of public service.
The meeting has been viewed in the context of the BJP’s broader political and organisational journey. Commenting on the occasion, Ashish Sharma, Executive President of Atal Manch, said that Modi’s visit to Advani’s residence and seeking his blessings reflected the tradition within the BJP of respecting senior leaders and valuing ideological continuity and संस्कार.
A Continuity of Ideology and Organisation
Sharma said that during the period when the BJP’s ideology was being strengthened across the country, former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Lal Krishna Advani played a significant role in building the organisation and taking issues associated with national interest to the people.
According to Sharma, the ideological foundation strengthened by Vajpayee and Advani is now being carried forward by Prime Minister Modi with what he described as new energy, new resolve and wider public support.
The Prime Minister’s own account of the meeting also highlighted Advani’s long public service and contribution to India’s national life. Modi said that Advani’s contribution had left a lasting imprint and that he had played a pivotal role in strengthening India’s progress.
Modi’s 25-Year Public Life
Sharma said that Prime Minister Modi’s 25-year journey in public life represents a long period of organisational work, public service and welfare-oriented politics.
Modi began his tenure as a head of government on October 7, 2001, as the Chief Minister of Gujarat, before becoming Prime Minister of India in 2014. He has now completed 25 continuous years as a head of government.
Sharma said that the meeting with Advani should not be viewed merely as a customary courtesy visit, but as a reflection of generational continuity in a political journey in which Vajpayee and Advani strengthened the organisation and ideology that Modi has subsequently carried forward.
Respect for Senior Leadership and Values
Sharma further said that Modi’s meeting with Advani demonstrated the importance attached to the guidance and values of senior leaders in public life.
He described the BJP’s journey as extending beyond electoral politics, saying it represents a continuing process involving ideology, organisation, national service and values.
According to Sharma, the meeting between Modi and Advani presented a visible expression of this continuity, connecting the contribution of the party’s senior generation with its present political leadership.
