The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin) has emerged as a powerful story of countless aspirations fulfilled and lives transformed across Rajnandgaon district. By enabling the construction of permanent houses for economically weaker families, the scheme has not only provided shelter but also dignity, safety, and a better quality of life for thousands of rural households.
Since the launch of the scheme, Rajnandgaon has demonstrated exceptional performance in implementation. From 2016–17 to 2022–23, the district received 27,442 housing approvals, out of which 27,122 houses have already been completed, marking an impressive 98.83% completion rate over the last five years.

For the current financial year 2024–25, the district has been allocated a target of 34,784 houses. Out of these, 30,552 beneficiaries have already received approval, and immediately after approval, each was credited with ₹40,000 as the first installment under the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system. Within just one year, 20,186 houses have been completed, achieving a 66.07% completion rate for the ongoing year.
The construction timeline has also improved significantly — earlier it took an average of 248 days to complete a house, whereas now the average has reduced to 194 days, reflecting efficient planning and continuous monitoring.

To ensure transparency and speed, funds are disbursed to beneficiaries in three DBT installments, directly into their bank accounts. So far, 30,162 beneficiaries have received their first installment, accounting for over 98% of approved houses, while 25,421 beneficiaries have also received their second installment, marking over 83% progress.
District authorities are maintaining strict supervision to ensure timely completion of homes. Nodal officers have been appointed at the block and village levels to coordinate directly with beneficiaries, assist them in sourcing construction materials through Gram Panchayats and Awas Mitras, and resolve any issues at the grassroots level.

The completion of 20,186 houses in one year stands as a testament to the state government’s commitment, district administration’s efficiency, and rural citizens’ participation. Rajnandgaon’s progress under PM Awas Yojana (Gramin) reflects how effective planning, monitoring, and community cooperation can drive transformative rural development.
