Day-long religious ceremonies planned; Saint Pipa remembered for renouncing war and embracing a spiritual life

The Pipa Kshatriya community will celebrate the birth anniversary of Saint Shiromani Sant Pipa Ji Maharaj on April 2 with deep devotion and enthusiasm in Rajnandgaon. A series of religious programs will be organized throughout the day at the Radha-Krishna Temple located inside the Baba Ramdev Temple premises in the city.
Tradition Carried Forward by the Community
Senior community member Komal Tanwar informed that the Pipa Kshatriya community residing in Rajnandgaon, whose roots are connected to Rajasthan, has been preserving this tradition for many years.
The Baba Ramdev Temple complex was constructed by the community’s leading member Bilalaki Das Ji Tanwar Baba. The consecration ceremony of the temple was held in 1962. Nearly 35 years ago, the Radha-Krishna Temple was established within the same premises.

Today, this temple has emerged as a major spiritual center of faith for the Pipa Kshatriya community, where members and people from nearby areas gather on this auspicious occasion every year.
Schedule of Religious Programs
Providing details of the celebrations, Komal Tanwar said the day will begin with ritual worship and continue with devotional activities:
- 9:00 AM: Abhishek and ceremonial worship of Sant Pipa Ji Maharaj
- 10:30 AM: Satyanarayan Katha and Aarti
- 1:00 PM: Bhajan-Kirtan program
- 9:00 PM onwards: Grand Bhajan Sandhya with participation of community members in large numbers
Event Strengthens Social Unity
Senior patron of the community, Nandu Ji Tanwar, who arrived from Dondilohara to participate in the celebrations, said the event symbolizes not only religious faith but also strengthens social unity and cultural heritage.
He noted that such gatherings in Rajnandgaon have helped enhance interaction among community members and reduced social distances. He also appreciated the efforts of Sharad, Komal, and Tipu Tanwar, along with Jasraj Rathore and other volunteers for organizing the event.
Saint Pipa Ji Maharaj: From Warrior King to Spiritual Saint
According to popular beliefs, Sant Pipa Ji Maharaj was once a brave Kshatriya king. His grand fort at Gagron in Jhalawar is now included among world heritage sites, and he is remembered as the ruler of the Gagron region.

Despite living amid royal authority and luxury, his mind gradually turned toward spiritual detachment. He worked to eliminate social discrimination and inequality while spreading the message of harmony, devotion, and humanity. His dedication to social upliftment and public welfare made him a revered saint among the masses.
Spiritual Connection with Omkareshwar
In the course of his spiritual journey, Sant Pipa Ji Maharaj is also believed to have been associated with the sacred Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga region, where he practiced deep meditation and renounced worldly luxury, war, and violence to adopt the life of a saint.
In Rajasthan, Baba Ramdev Ji holds special cultural importance, and within the same folk traditions, the spiritual influence of Sant Pipa Ji Maharaj continues to be widely recognized.
