New 108 Sanjeevani Express Ambulances Flagged Off in Rajnandgaon

Speaker Dr. Raman Singh calls expansion a milestone in strengthening healthcare services across Chhattisgarh

Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh today flagged off 10 new 108 Sanjeevani Express ambulances through video conferencing at the Bharat Ratna Late Atal Bihari Vajpayee Government Medical College campus in Rajnandgaon.

In addition, approval has been granted for three more ambulances, taking the total number of newly available advanced ambulances in the district to 13. The services will be operated by the GVK EMRI Institute.


Major Boost to Healthcare Infrastructure

Dr. Raman Singh stated that the addition of new Sanjeevani Express ambulances would provide renewed momentum and efficiency to healthcare facilities in the district.

He said the initiative would prove to be a milestone in strengthening and advancing healthcare services not only in Rajnandgaon district but across the entire state.


Progress Toward Peace and Development

Addressing the gathering, the Assembly Speaker noted that Chhattisgarh is moving toward lasting peace and development after emerging from the challenges of Naxalism.

He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai, and Home Minister Vijay Sharma for their historic contribution in addressing the Naxal issue.


Distribution and Features of New Ambulances

Dr. Singh informed that among the 10 newly flagged-off ambulances:

  • 8 are Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulances
  • 2 are Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulances

Along with three additional sanctioned vehicles, a total of 13 ambulances will now serve the district.

Deployment includes:

  • 4 ambulances for the District Hospital
  • 5 for Community Health Centres
  • 1 for a Primary Health Centre

The new ambulances are equipped with location-based services and mobile data terminal systems, enabling real-time monitoring of ambulance location, response time, and patient access.

ALS ambulances are fitted with essential life-saving equipment such as BP monitors, pulse oximeters, glucometers, nebulizers, oxygen supply systems, and other emergency medical devices.


Faster Emergency Response System

Under the 108 Sanjeevani Express service, response time has been fixed at:

  • 15 minutes in urban areas
  • 30 minutes in rural areas

This system ensures timely medical assistance in road accidents, emergency deliveries, caesarean cases, and other critical medical situations.


Service Saving Thousands of Lives

Dr. Raman Singh highlighted that the 108 Sanjeevani Express scheme was launched in 2011. Since then, the service has provided timely treatment to 1,26,990 people in the district.

Last year alone, 8,463 women benefited from the ambulance service. He stated that the life-saving service, which has already saved thousands of lives, will now operate in an even more capable and advanced form.


MP and Public Representatives Welcome Initiative

Member of Parliament Santosh Pandey joined the program through video conferencing and described Chhattisgarh’s progress toward becoming Naxal-free as a matter of national pride achieved through strong leadership.

He said Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai has given a significant healthcare gift to the district by providing 13 new Sanjeevani Express ambulances. According to him, the 108 ambulance service has played a life-saving role particularly in remote, hilly, and rural regions, and the new vehicles will further strengthen health security.

Mayor Madhusudan Yadav expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister, Assembly Speaker, and public representatives for expanding ambulance services in the district. He emphasized that the Sanjeevani Express has already saved lakhs of lives and that the new GPS-enabled ambulances will ensure faster emergency response across both urban and rural areas.


Participation of Officials and Public Representatives

Social worker Komal Singh Rajput also addressed the gathering.

Among those present were District Panchayat President Kiran Vaishnav, Chhattisgarh Labour Welfare Board Chairman Yogesh Datt Mishra, Khoobchand Parakh, Santosh Agrawal, Ramesh Patel, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Atul Vishwakarma, Joint Collector Sheetal Bansal, Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr. N.R. Navratan, Joint Director-cum-Superintendent Dr. Atul Deshkar, Civil Surgeon Dr. Mahendra Prasad, along with public representatives, health officials, doctors, and prominent citizens.
