“One Tree in Mother’s Name” Campaign Sees Massive Green Drive with 38,000 Saplings Planted

An Emotional Tribute to Mothers and Nature: District Administration, NGOs, Schools Join Hands for Environmental Conservation

In a remarkable effort to promote greenery and honor maternal love, the Rajnandgaon district administration organized a massive plantation drive under the campaign titled “One Tree in Mother’s Name”. The initiative led to the planting of approximately 38,000 saplings across 407 village panchayats, educational institutions, and social and industrial organizations in the district.

District Collector Dr. Sarveshwar Narendra Bhure and Chief Executive Officer of Zila Panchayat Ms. Suruchi Singh actively participated in the plantation activities at various locations. They urged citizens, institutions, and local governance bodies to make this initiative a public movement for environmental protection. The collector also extended his gratitude to all participating NGOs, panchayat representatives, educational institutions, business groups, and civil society organizations, encouraging continued involvement in such green initiatives.

Mass Participation and Institutional Support
Several leading organizations lent their support to the campaign, including Udayachal, Gayatri Pariwar, Samta Manch, Aastha School for the Deaf and Mute, Abhilasha Sansthan, Copedian Villagers Welfare Foundation, Hariyali Bahna Abhiyan Maa Bamleshwari Group, Chamber of Commerce, ABIS Expert, Jankalyan Social Institute, Sight Savers India Forum, and various schools like Deepika Vidyalaya, Vaselian School, Nehru Vidyalaya Singhola, Adarsh Vidya Mandir Lakholi, Srujan Higher Secondary School Surgi, and Saraswati Shishu Mandir Patewa.

Fruit-Bearing and Shade-Giving Trees for Future Generations
As part of the campaign, diverse species of fruit-bearing and shade-providing trees such as mango, jackfruit, lemon, moringa, neem, and peepal were planted in grazing lands and community spaces. Alongside rural roads, karanj trees—known for their dense shade—were planted with the aim to benefit both the ecosystem and the rural economy in the coming years.
