In a major boost to urban development and road safety, long-pending proposals for the construction of an underpass and service lanes on National Highway-53 (NH-53) in Rajnandgaon have finally received approval. The decision is being hailed as a landmark step towards making the city’s traffic system safer, smoother and largely accident-free.
With the construction of the proposed underpass and service lanes, a significant reduction in road accidents is expected. The project will enable effective segregation of heavy vehicles and local traffic, ensuring safer movement for residents, traders, students and daily commuters. It is also expected to provide long-awaited relief from chronic traffic congestion on the highway stretch passing through the city.
Beyond improving traffic flow, the project is anticipated to give a major push to commercial and economic activities in the region. Better connectivity and reduced travel time are likely to benefit local businesses and industries, strengthening Rajnandgaon’s role as an emerging urban and trade hub.
The approval of this important infrastructure project is being attributed to the sustained efforts, strong leadership and commitment of Rajnandgaon MLA and Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly Speaker Dr Raman Singh. Under his guidance, the city has witnessed continuous developmental initiatives aimed at enhancing public safety and improving the quality of life for citizens.
