The Chhattisgarh government has launched a community-driven campaign titled “Neer aur Naari Jal Yatra” in Rajnandgaon to promote awareness on water conservation and rejuvenation of natural water bodies. The program commenced from Rampur Panchayat, with BJP State General Secretary Pawan Sai attending as the keynote speaker.
In his address, Sai emphasized the importance of simple water conservation measures like soak pits, borewell recharge, and revival of local rivers and streams. He noted that with active participation, especially by rural women, the initiative could help mitigate water scarcity, enhance irrigation, and enable double cropping for farmers.
MP Santosh Pandey also underlined the need for community mobilization to ensure the success of this campaign, highlighting the long-term benefits of recharging water bodies and restoring their lost capacity.
Zila Panchayat Chairperson Kiran Vaishnav and CEO Suruchi Singh called for inclusive participation from villagers, administrative bodies, and influencers. They announced that Padma Shri awardee Fulbasan Yadav is also supporting the campaign to inspire public engagement and spread the message of water security.
A large number of villagers, local leaders, and BJP functionaries including Bharat Verma, Komal Singh Rajput, Khubchand Parkh, and Saurabh Kothari were present during the event.
The campaign aspires to revive depleting groundwater levels and secure sustainable water access for rural communities, especially during the dry season, through public participation and collective efforts.
