Musarakhurd Illegal Liquor Case: Rajnandgaon Police Achieve Major Breakthrough

Another accused of inter-state liquor syndicate arrested; supply linked to Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh

Rajnandgaon Police have achieved another significant success in the illegal liquor racket uncovered in Musarakhurd village under Dongargarh police station limits. A key accused associated with the inter-state syndicate has been arrested by a joint team of Dongargarh Police and the Cyber Cell, Rajnandgaon.

According to police officials, on December 17, 2025, acting on credible intelligence, the police uncovered a conspiracy involving the storage and sale of illegal liquor at a house near the Sheetla Temple in Musarakhurd village. Considering the seriousness of the information, a swift and well-planned raid was conducted under the directions of senior officers.

Operation Conducted Under Senior Officers’ Supervision

The entire operation was carried out under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Ms Ankita Sharma, Additional Superintendent of Police Shri Mukesh Thakur, and Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Dongargarh, Shri Ashish Kunjam.

During the initial raid, the joint police team arrested Birbal Verma and Chandrakant alias Sonu Sen from the spot.

Huge Quantity of Illegal Liquor and Fake Stickers Seized

During the search, police recovered:

  • 62.64 bulk litres of illegal foreign liquor
  • 1,860 fake excise stickers
  • TVS Jupiter scooter without registration number
  • Mobile phone, tools, and cash

The total estimated value of the seized property was approximately ₹1.38 lakh.

Inter-State Supply Network Exposed

During interrogation, the arrested accused revealed that the supply of illegal liquor and fake excise labels was being carried out by Rajpal Singh Bhatia (Maharashtra) and Avdhesh Singh, son of Avika Singh, currently operating from Karanja liquor shop, Balaghat district, Madhya Pradesh.

Acting on this information, Rajnandgaon Police arrested Avdhesh Singh on January 6, 2026. Further interrogation is underway, and police officials believe more crucial information regarding other syndicate members and the supply chain may emerge.

Legal Action Underway

Police have registered the case under Sections 34(2) and 59-C of the Excise Act and Sections 339, 336(3), and 340(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Further investigation is in progress.

Crackdown on Illegal Liquor Trade Continues

Rajnandgaon Police have reiterated that a strict and continuous drive against illegal liquor trade is being conducted across the district. Authorities have warned that anyone found involved at any level of such unlawful activities will face stringent legal action.
