To accelerate the implementation of works under the Jal Jeevan Mission, the state government of Chhattisgarh had released its entire share of ₹3,000 crore in advance during the financial year 2024–25. This amount was utilized for various drinking water projects under the mission within the same financial year.

Now, the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation under the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India, has reimbursed ₹536.53 crore to the state, strengthening the financial management of the scheme. The Jal Jeevan Mission is an ambitious initiative launched by the Government of India in 2019, aimed at providing safe drinking water to every rural household through tap connections.

Millions of rural households have already been provided with tap water connections, while work is progressing rapidly in remaining areas to lay pipelines and develop water sources.
The state government aims to achieve the target of “Har Ghar Nal Se Jal” within the stipulated timeline by ensuring safe drinking water reaches every household.
