Chhattisgarh has once again made headlines at the national level with Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki district being awarded the First Prize for Overall Performance under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY). The recognition was conferred during the 12th National Review Conference and the 8th National Level Monitoring Committee meeting held on April 18–19 in Kovalam, Kerala, organized by the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare.
The award was received by District Collector Smt. Tulika Prajapati, who has been instrumental in ensuring the effective and inclusive rollout of the scheme within the district.
Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki is a newly formed district in Chhattisgarh, heavily reliant on agriculture. For the Kharif season, crops like irrigated and unirrigated paddy were notified under the scheme, while Rabi season included crops such as gram, irrigated and unirrigated wheat, mustard, linseed, and rapeseed.
Under the dynamic leadership of the Collector, the implementation of PMFBY saw remarkable success. An extensive awareness campaign and active promotion of the scheme helped a significant number of farmers register and secure coverage under the crop insurance program.
The award reflects not only administrative excellence but also the deep-rooted commitment to securing the livelihoods of farmers in one of the state’s most agrarian regions. This national recognition marks a milestone for the district and is expected to further boost confidence among local farmers in availing the benefits of government schemes.
Officials noted that the robust awareness campaigns, clear communication of benefits, and on-ground support for farmers played a pivotal role in the district’s exceptional performance.
The achievement also shines a spotlight on Chhattisgarh’s increasing efficiency and leadership in rural development and agricultural welfare at the national level.
