Illegal Private Schools Flourishing in Rajnandgaon, Warns Parents’ Association Chief

Christopher Paul demands immediate closure of unrecognized and ill-equipped schools; alleges violation of education norms and children’s rights

Despite the Right to Education (RTE) Act and directives from the state government, several unauthorized and under-equipped private schools continue to operate openly in Rajnandgaon. Raising serious concerns over these violations, Chhattisgarh Parents Association’s State President Christopher Paul has called for the immediate closure of such institutions.

In a press statement, Paul alleged that these schools lack the basic infrastructure and legal recognition, thus endangering the future of innocent children. “Schools like Little Millennium Play School (Gurunanak Chowk), Aziz Public School (GE Road), and Sanskar Kids (near the stadium) have been running for years without essential facilities such as playgrounds and adequate safety measures. These are mandatory under the RTE Act,” he said.

He also pointed to the broader issue of regulatory failure, stating that more than 20 unrecognized private schools in the region are violating state education codes, fee regulation laws, and recognition norms. “The negligence and possible collusion of the authorities have allowed these institutions to operate unchecked,” Paul alleged.

Paul further highlighted the case of Chaitanya Techno School, which he claimed is illegally offering a CBSE curriculum despite lacking a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the state government and affiliation from the CBSE board or the District Education Officer (DEO). “As per rules, this school should only be running a CG Board curriculum. Despite multiple written complaints, no investigation has been initiated,” he added.

The Parents’ Association has urged the administration to take strict action against all illegal schools and enforce the education regulations stringently. Paul warned that if corrective measures are not taken promptly, the Association will be forced to launch a public agitation in the interest of students and parents.
