As part of the “Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyan” (Healthy Women, Empowered Families Campaign), the Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan (PMSMA) was observed across health centers in Rajnandgaon district on September 24, 25, and 26, 2025.
Specialists including Dr. Anupama Asthana at PHC Lal Bahadur Nagar and Dr. Laxmi Bagga at PHC Tumdibod conducted check-ups for high-risk pregnant women in their second and third trimesters, offering essential medical consultations and treatment facilities.
The campaign particularly emphasizes early identification and timely management of high-risk pregnancies. District hospitals, government medical colleges, community health centers, and designated primary health centers have been fully equipped to ensure smooth implementation. Senior district officials are also inspecting centers to ensure effective arrangements.

Under the PMSMA, special health camps are organized on the 9th and 24th of every month to provide free antenatal care. The initiative targets women with previous C-sections, miscarriages, stillbirths, low BMI, early pregnancies, severe anemia, hypertension, diabetes, or other complications. Sonography and diagnostic advice are also being extended to enable proper care.
Authorities stressed that the campaign is a crucial step toward reducing maternal mortality and ensuring safe motherhood for women in the district.
