Under the direction of Collector Mrs. Tulika Prajapati, a one-day health screening camp for Severely Acutely Malnourished (SAM) children was successfully organized in Ambagarh Chowki block of Mohla district. The camp was conducted jointly by the Department of Women and Child Development and the Health Department, with technical support from AIIMS Raipur and UNICEF, as part of the Hamar Swasth Laika (Our Healthy Child) initiative.
A total of 50 SAM children were examined during the camp. The health screening included tests for sickle cell disease, hemoglobin levels, and other essential primary health parameters. Based on their individual health needs, children were also provided with necessary medications.
District Programme Officer Mr. Chandrashekhar informed that the Hamar Swasth Laika programme includes monthly health check-ups and weekly follow-ups for all registered SAM children to ensure continuous monitoring and proper treatment.
Key attendees at the camp included State Consultant from the State Centre of Excellence AIIMS Raipur, Mr. John Varun, BMO Dr. S.S. Dhurve, Chirayu Medical Team, District Nutrition Coordinator Mr. Rupesh Chakradhari, along with project officers, block coordinators, staff nurses, field investigators, supervisors, and Anganwadi workers, all of whom contributed actively to the event’s success.
Such integrated efforts are proving to be a powerful step in the district’s battle against child malnutrition, ensuring better health and well-being for the most vulnerable children.
