Collector Pays Tribute at Gandhi Statue, Administers Pledge for De-addiction, and Honors Senior Citizens

The birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, was celebrated with reverence and enthusiasm at the district level. Collector Dr. Sarveshwar Narendra Bhure paid homage by garlanding the Gandhi statue at the Collectorate premises. On this occasion, Gandhi’s favorite bhajans, Vaishnav Jan To and Raghupati Raghav Rajaram, were sung collectively. The Collector administered a pledge for de-addiction to officers and employees.

The program was attended by Additional Collector Mr. C.L. Markandey, Mr. Prem Prakash Sharma, Joint Collector Ms. Sheetal Bansal, Deputy Collector Mr. Abhishek Sharma, and officials and staff from various departments.As part of the Seva Pakhwada, a felicitation ceremony was organized at Gandhi Sabhagar on International Senior Citizens’ Day. MP Mr. Santosh Pandey was the chief guest.
He described senior citizens as invaluable assets to society, emphasizing that their blessings are a treasure in life. Senior citizens and residents of Bhagwan Mahavir Samta Vriddhashram were honored with shawls, coconuts, flower bouquets, and mementos.

During the event, CGM of Rajnandgaon District and Sessions Court, Mr. Bhupat Singh Sahu, informed senior citizens about their legal rights, while Deputy Director of the Social Welfare Department, Ms. Vaishali Mardwar, shared details of departmental schemes. The ceremony was graced by Padma Shri Phulbasan Bai Yadav, Dr. Pukhraj Bafna, Dr. Narendra Gandhi, Mr. Khubchand Parakh, Mr. Gautam Parakh, and several other senior social workers and citizens. Deputy Director Ms. Vaishali Mangalwar expressed gratitude to social worker Hemant Tiwari for his special contribution to organizing the event.

Health check-ups for senior citizens were conducted, and medicines were distributed. The program infused new energy into the district by connecting Gandhi Jayanti with service, harmony, and social concerns.
