City Congress General Secretary Writes to Chhattisgarh Animal Welfare Board Seeking Action Over Stray Dog Menace and Cattle on Roads

City District Congress Committee General Secretary and advocate Kusum Dubey has expressed concern over the growing number of stray dogs in the city and the increasing incidents of accidents caused by cattle sitting on roads.
She has written to Alok Chandrakar, Vice-Chairperson of the Chhattisgarh Animal Welfare Board, seeking appropriate action on the issue.
Dubey said that the number of stray dogs had increased sharply across different parts of the city, with frequent incidents of dog bites and attacks being reported. She said that residents were being forced to live in fear after witnessing large and intimidating packs of stray dogs in the city’s wards at night.
She said that the administration needed to accelerate its drive to capture stray dogs and take strong steps to provide relief to the general public.

She also expressed concern over cattle continuously sitting on roads, which has been leading to accidents and injuries to the animals themselves. She said that the situation was also hurting public sentiment.
Dubey said that wherever cattle belonging to specific individuals are found sitting on roads, the concerned owners should be strictly warned and made responsible for ensuring their protection. She said that failure to do so should invite action.
In view of both serious issues, a letter was sent to Alok Chandrakar seeking special action at the state level. Chandrakar immediately directed the head of the department to take necessary action and inform him about the measures undertaken.
The action is aimed at ensuring appropriate measures at the state government level to protect human lives and cattle and to provide relief to children and the general public from the fear caused by large packs of stray dogs and attacks.
