The Chakradhar Kathak Kalyan Kendra will organise “Arpan Nritya Samagam” on the occasion of Devshayani Ekadashi on July 25, 2026, at the premises of the city’s revered deity, Shri Sheetla Mata Temple.
The programme, dedicated to the educational, cultural and traditional heritage of Sanskardhani Rajnandgaon, will be held from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm. Artists and practitioners of classical dance and music from the city will offer their artistic practice through devotional dance and music before their revered deities on the auspicious occasion of Devshayani Ekadashi.
According to the organisers, the traditional practice in Sanatan temple traditions includes awakening deities through dance and music in the morning and offering devotional performances at night before the deities retire to rest.
This year, Devshayani Ekadashi will be observed on July 25, 2026, marking the beginning of the four-month period known as Chaturmas, during which the deities are traditionally believed to rest in their divine abode.

The Arpan Nritya Samagam is being organised in accordance with the knowledge tradition received by Dr Krishna Kumar Sinha, founder of Chakradhar Kathak Kalyan Kendra and a disciple who received the Ganda Bandh initiation from his gurus, Padma Vibhushan Pandit Birju Maharaj and Professor Kalyan Das Ji Mahant, a court artist of the Raigarh Darbar.
The organisers said that the tradition has been continued in Rajnandgaon, the only Sanskardhani in Chhattisgarh, for the past 35 years.
Pandit Suresh Maharaj, Pandit Subhash Maharaj, Pandit Raj Maharaj and all the priests of the Sheetla Mata Temple have appealed to devotees and citizens to participate in the programme.
