Action Taken Under Mining Act Following Collector’s Directive to Curb Illegal Extraction and Transport

Acting on the instructions of Collector Jitendra Yadav, the district Mineral Department conducted a surprise inspection drive to control illegal mining, transportation and storage activities. During the operation, four vehicles involved in unlawful mineral transportation were seized under the provisions of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act.
Mining Officer Jyoti Mishra stated that the enforcement team intercepted multiple vehicles transporting minerals without valid authorization during the inspection.
In Dongargaon police station limits, a Hyva truck (CG 08 AY 8339) belonging to Ajay Sahu, a resident of Salhe village, was seized while illegally transporting limestone aggregate. In a separate case in the same area, another Hyva vehicle (CG 08 BE 6894) owned by Shailendra Sharma of Gaindatola village was also confiscated for illegal limestone transportation. Additionally, a Mazda vehicle belonging to Davendra Sahu of Mohad village was seized for unlawful sand transportation.
In Tumdibod police station limits, a Hyva truck (CG 08 AW 3809) owned by Durgesh Devangan of Mohara village was seized while transporting murum (laterite soil) without permission.
All seized vehicles have been handed over to the respective police stations, where cases have been registered and further legal action is being initiated under the Mines and Minerals Act.
The district administration has reiterated its commitment to strict enforcement against illegal mining activities to protect natural resources and ensure regulatory compliance.
