The Horticulture Department, in collaboration with Amma Palm Plantation Limited, organised a comprehensive training programme on oil palm cultivation for farmers at village Labhaninbhatha in Dongargarh development block. The initiative aimed to promote oil palm farming as a profitable and sustainable agricultural option by familiarising cultivators with modern techniques, financial assistance, and market prospects.

During the training, farmers were educated on oil palm cultivation practices, its industrial and edible oil uses, nutritional value, and overall economic importance. Company representative Mr. Siddharth Chandrakar provided detailed technical guidance covering plantation methods, crop management, irrigation systems, production cycles, and expected net income from oil palm farming.

Senior Horticulture Development Officer Mr. R.K. Mehra explained the various subsidy provisions available under the horticulture department. He informed that oil palm saplings are being provided to farmers at their fields on 100 per cent subsidy. In addition, financial assistance of ₹21,000 each is being given for plant maintenance and intercropping, while a subsidy of ₹17,269 per hectare is available for drip irrigation installation.
