Pradesh Kisan Sangh Holds One-Day Dharna in Rajnandgaon, Opposes Fertilizer Cuts and Alleged Black Marketing

One-Day Dharna Against Fertilizer Policy
Farmers staged a one-day protest on Thursday under the banner of Pradesh Kisan Sangh against the fertilizer policy, alleged black marketing, and the shortage of fertilizers. The protest was held in front of the district office, where farmers expressed strong resentment over the reported reduction of 20 percent in urea allocation and 40 percent in DAP allocation.
The protesters described the decision as anti-farmer and detrimental to agricultural production. A memorandum addressed to the Chief Minister was submitted, demanding the withdrawal of the reduction and the supply of fertilizers in adequate quantities.
Demand for Action Against Black Marketing
In the memorandum, farmers also sought strict measures to curb black marketing of fertilizers. The five-point memorandum highlighted several demands related to agricultural support and farmers’ welfare.
The memorandum stated that the benefits of increased support prices should be passed on to farmers. It further demanded that paddy procurement for the current year be conducted at ₹3,358 per quintal.
Demand for Payment of Pending Dues
Farmers also demanded payment of the differential amount for paddy procured during 2024-25 at the rate of ₹117 per quintal and for 2025-26 at the rate of ₹186 per quintal.

In addition, the memorandum sought the release of pending installments under the Rajiv Gandhi Nyay Yojana.
Warning of Larger Statewide Movement
During the protest, farmers warned that if their demands were not addressed promptly, a large-scale statewide agitation would be launched. They also indicated preparations for a march of farmers from across the state to the capital.

Among those present at the protest were Sudesh Tikam, Motilal Sinha, Madan Sahu, Ishwari Netam, Vinek Mandavi, Chandu Sahu, Ramakant Banjare, Devalal Sahu, Gaindlal Sahu, Nandu Lodhi, Shamratan, Shamsai Sinha, Itwari Bandhav, Manbodhi Nishad, Manish Devangan, Ramkrishna, Chaitram, Punuram Patel, Baisakhu Bharti, Tulsidas, Mangal Devangan, Kirtan Sinha, Maneshwar, Yashoda Bai, Manju, Hemin Bai, Sakun Bai, Meena, Santribai, Radhiya Bai, Rukhamani, and Kanti, along with a large number of male and female farmers.
