Divisional Commissioner Conducts Surprise Inspection of Patekohra Inter-State Checkpost

Illegal paddy-laden truck seized; procurement centre at Lalutola also reviewed

Divisional Commissioner Mr. Satyanarayan Rathore conducted a surprise inspection of the Patekohra inter-state border checkpost, during which a truck involved in illegal transportation of paddy from Maharashtra was seized. The Commissioner also inspected the Lalutola paddy procurement centre in Chhuriya development block and interacted with farmers to assess facilities provided to them. Collector Mr. Jitendra Yadav was present during the inspection.

During the inspection at the Patekohra barrier, the Divisional Commissioner reviewed checking procedures and sought details regarding the compounding fee collected by the Transport Department. He directed officials to ensure cleanliness of the checkpost premises and instructed them to organise and streamline the office building for better functioning.

Later, Mr. Rathore inspected the Lalutola paddy procurement centre, where he held discussions with farmers and gathered feedback on services being provided. He examined the quality of paddy, checked moisture levels using moisture meters, and observed weighing through electronic weighing machines. He also enquired about the online token system, weighing process, and the presence of commission agents or middlemen.

The Divisional Commissioner emphasised that only clean, dry and quality paddy should be procured. He reviewed details related to coarse, fine and Sarna varieties of paddy, and inspected arrangements for storage, drinking water, lighting and other essential facilities at the procurement centre.

It was informed that at Lalutola procurement centre, 935 farmers have registered a total area of 267.875 hectares for paddy procurement.

Additional Collector Mr. C.L. Markandey, Chhuriya Tehsildar Mr. Vijay Kothari, Assistant Food Officer, other officials and farmers were present on the occasion.
