The district celebrated Tribal Pride Day with great enthusiasm at the Mini Stadium in Mohla, marking the 150th birth anniversary of freedom fighter and legendary tribal icon Bhagwan Birsa Munda. The event witnessed nationwide participation as Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed tribal communities across the country through a virtual programme held from Dediapada in Narmada district, Gujarat.
At the district-level ceremony, Ahivara MLA Domanlal Korsewada attended as the chief guest and highlighted the invaluable cultural, social, and historical contributions of tribal communities. He described tribal heritage as “priceless and rich,” emphasizing the need for its preservation in a rapidly changing world.

Prime Minister Modi, in his address, extended greetings for Tribal Pride Day and recalled the extraordinary legacy of Birsa Munda. He noted that the government is prioritizing tribal development through key schemes such as PM Janman and Dhart Aba. The Prime Minister also inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for several projects, including Eklavya Model Residential Schools, road connectivity initiatives, and the Birsa Munda Tribal University, stating that these projects will accelerate development in tribal regions.
Speaking at the Mohla event, MLA Korsewada praised the tribal community’s historical role in India’s independence movement and nation-building. Highlighting Birsa Munda’s unparalleled contributions, he said, “Birsa Munda ignited the flame of freedom by breaking the chains of colonial rule within the tribal community.” He also reaffirmed the government’s commitment—under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai—to the principle of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas.
He added that since the formation of Chhattisgarh state, development in forested and tribal-dominated regions has gained significant momentum. The MLA also read out the Chief Minister’s message during the programme.
