Eight vehicles seized during surprise night inspection; joint operation by Revenue and Mining Departments on Collector’s orders

Acting on the directives of District Collector Dr. Sarveshwar Narendra Bhure, a joint operation by the Revenue and Mining Departments was carried out to curb illegal sand excavation and transport in the Rajnandgaon district. During a surprise inspection conducted late at night, a total of eight vehicles—five carrying sand and three loaded with gravel—were seized for unauthorized transportation.
Among the seized vehicles were four sand-laden trucks from Bharregav village:
- CG-08 AN-3492
- CG-08 AL-3164
- CG-08 AM-4503
- CG-07 CR-1931
Additionally, another truck (CG-08 AY-9034) was found transporting sand illegally, while three others (CG-08 BD-8700, CG-08 AG-6811, and CG-08 BL-5015) were caught ferrying gravel without proper documentation.

The operation was led by SDM Mr. Khemalal Verma and Mining Officer Mr. Praveen Chandrakar, who emphasized that stringent monitoring and enforcement would continue to tackle the issue of illegal mining.
Similar actions were also undertaken in the Dongargarh development block, where two more trucks involved in illegal sand transport were seized. SDM Dongargarh Mr. Manoj Markam and SDM Dongargaon Mr. Shrikant Korram have also been actively conducting regular inspections in their respective subdivisions to clamp down on such violations.
Authorities have reiterated their commitment to intensifying surveillance and enforcement against unauthorized mining activities in the coming weeks.
