Congress Alleges Political Vendetta by BJP Using Constitutional Agencies

In a united display of resistance, both the Urban and Rural Congress Committees of Rajnandgaon staged a massive protest against what they called the “politically motivated misuse of central agencies” by the BJP-led Union government. The protest was held beneath the flyover near the post office, attracting senior leaders, MLAs, and party workers in large numbers.

The Congress party accused the Modi government of targeting Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and other senior leaders by filing a chargesheet through the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the National Herald money laundering case. Calling it “a manufactured crime,” Congress claimed the BJP was using ED and other constitutional institutions to suppress opposition voices.

Leaders Call Out ED, CBI for Selective Targeting

“Freedom of Press & Democratic Rights Under Threat” – Former Minister Dhanesh Patila

Former Minister Dhanesh Patila reminded the public of the historical role played by the National Herald newspaper in India’s freedom struggle and said the BJP government is trying to tarnish the Congress legacy with false allegations.

“We will not tolerate these attacks on our leadership. This is nothing but political revenge,” he said.

“Modi Government Behaving Like Dictatorship” – Kulbir Singh Chhabra

City Congress President Kulbir Singh Chhabra accused the Modi government of trying to silence leaders like Sonia and Rahul Gandhi.

“They want only their voice to be heard. Public opinion doesn’t matter to them. They are selling off public assets while intimidating opposition leaders using fake ED and CBI cases,” he said.

He also questioned the lack of action against real corruption in Chhattisgarh, citing issues like fake liquor holograms and recruitment scams.

“We Will Not Be Intimidated” – Rural Congress President Bhagwat Sahu

District Rural Congress President Bhagwat Sahu lambasted the BJP’s alleged strategy to use ED, CBI, and Income Tax as tools of fear, adding that the Modi-Shah duo is attempting to dismantle India’s democratic fabric by sowing seeds of division based on caste and religion.

“Congress has never bowed before the British, and we will not bow before these corrupt forces either,” he declared.

Notable Presence & Party Unity

The protest saw attendance from a wide spectrum of Congress leadership and grassroots workers. Among the key leaders present were:

  • MLAs Daleshwar Sahu (Dongargaon) and Bholaram Sahu (Khujji)
  • Congress Lok Sabha In-Charge Rajendra Sahu, PCC General Secretary Shahid Khan, and former Mayor Sudesh Deshmukh
