Directs strict action against encroachment and improper waste disposal ahead of Diwali; reviews waste segregation and composting processes

Municipal Commissioner Atul Vishwakarma conducted a city-wide cleanliness inspection on Wednesday, reviewing preparations for the upcoming Diwali festival. He personally visited various locations to assess sanitation efforts, instructing the health department to ensure qualitative improvements in cleanliness and civic hygiene.
During his visit to the Gokul Nagar and Indira Nagar SLRM (Solid and Liquid Resource Management) Centres, the Commissioner reviewed waste management systems and directed supervisors to maintain proper segregation of wet and dry waste. He emphasized timely disposal, efficient compost production, and proper baling of recyclable materials using machines. He also instructed that plastic waste and other materials be bundled and sold to recyclers to maintain cleanliness at the centres.

Commissioner Vishwakarma inspected the Academic Campus, directing the health officer Rajesh Mishra to ensure thorough cleaning of the premises and trimming of overgrown bushes. He also asked technical officials to complete the pending infrastructural works at the earliest, noting that academic activities are expected to commence soon.
In the Nandai area, the Commissioner reviewed ongoing sanitation work and instructed shopkeepers to remove obstructions, including pipes placed on public pathways. He warned that strict action would be taken against those responsible for spreading litter or encroaching upon public spaces.

Commissioner Vishwakarma reiterated that cleanliness, encroachment removal, and waste management efforts should be intensified ahead of the Diwali festival to keep Rajnandgaon clean, organized, and pollution-free.
