District Administration Cracks Down on Unauthorized Land Development in Rajnandgaon

In one of the biggest administrative actions against illegal land development in the district, the Rajnandgaon administration launched a major crackdown on unauthorized plotting and construction activities in the Mangata picnic area under the direction of Collector Jitendra Yadav.
According to officials, illegal plotting was being carried out on more than 120 acres of land without obtaining mandatory statutory permissions. Construction activities had also reportedly begun without approvals from the concerned departments.
Action After Failure to Provide Satisfactory Reply
Sources said that the land developers had allegedly failed to comply with legal requirements, including provisions related to RERA and other regulatory norms. Following complaints regarding the unauthorized activities, the district administration issued notices seeking clarification.
However, after no satisfactory response was submitted within the stipulated time, authorities initiated strict action. The administration reportedly leveled the land and halted ongoing construction activities at the site.
Strong Message Against Illegal Colonies
The action is being viewed as more than a single enforcement drive, with officials indicating that it sends a strong message against the growing trend of illegal plotting and unauthorized colonies in the district.
Following the administrative crackdown, concern and caution have reportedly increased among individuals involved in unapproved plotting and construction work in other parts of the city as well. Many residents have welcomed the move and described it as a positive step toward planned urban development and legal compliance.
Rapid Development of Mangata Region
The Mangata area has witnessed rapid transformation over the last eight to ten years. Earlier known for deep gravel mines and agricultural land, the region later underwent large-scale plantation work under the Panabaras Project, leading to the development of a vast green belt spread over nearly 1,300 acres.
The area was subsequently developed as a Forest Awareness Centre, featuring safari and tourism-related facilities by the Forest Department and local Panchayat authorities. As the region gained popularity, large-scale land purchases and plotting activities increased significantly.

Administrative sources stated that monitoring of illegal colonies, unauthorized plotting and rule-violating construction activities will now be intensified across the district.
Officials noted that Collector Jitendra Yadav is known for adopting a strict approach toward enforcement of rules and regulations. The latest action has reportedly increased alertness among developers operating in several other areas of Rajnandgaon district.
