Experts Highlight Local Biodiversity and Urge Collective Action for Environmental Protection in Rajnandgaon

In celebration of International Biodiversity Day, a vibrant awareness programme was organized at the Forest Awareness Centre, Mangta, aimed at educating the public on the critical importance of biodiversity and the urgent need for its protection. The event brought together forestry experts, public representatives, and community members to engage in meaningful dialogue on environmental stewardship.

The event featured an enlightening exhibition displaying photographs of Rajnandgaon’s unique biodiversity, showcasing its lush greenery, native species, and ecological wealth. Subject matter experts including Mr. Vivek Shukla, Mr. Prateek Thakur, Mr. Rajendra Mishra, Mr. M.L. Nayak, and Mr. Subodh Pandey delivered informative talks, stressing the interdependence between humans and the environment.

Highlighting the shared responsibility in conserving biodiversity, the programme emphasized the critical role of joint efforts between the Forest Department and society at large. Speakers urged for active participation in biodiversity preservation to ensure long-term ecological sustainability.
Distinguished guests present at the event included District Panchayat President Mrs. Kiran Vaishnav, Vice President Mrs. Kiran Sahu, and Member Mrs. Devkumari Sahu. Also in attendance were Mr. Prashant Kodape, Member Secretary of Chhattisgarh State Biodiversity Board Mr. Rajesh Chandel, Joint CEO of State CAMPA Mr. Amitabh Bajpai, and Forest Divisional Officers Mr. Pankaj Rajput (Khairagarh), Mr. Ayush Jain (Rajnandgaon), Mr. Dinesh Patel (Mohla), and Mr. Dipesh Kapil (Durg), along with trainee officer Mr. Abhishek Agrawal.

Forest sub-divisional officers, range officers, ground staff, biodiversity management committee members, local representatives, and rural citizens were also present in large numbers, making the programme a resounding success in raising awareness and fostering community commitment to ecological conservation.
