A major and long-awaited infrastructure breakthrough has been achieved with the approval of an underpass and service lanes on National Highway-53 (NH-53), a move expected to transform traffic management and enhance public safety in Rajnandgaon. The decision is being hailed as a historic step towards making the city safer, more accessible, and largely free from traffic-related accidents.

The construction of the proposed underpass and service lanes on NH-53 is expected to significantly reduce road accidents by enabling the segregation of heavy vehicles and local traffic. This will ensure safer commuting for citizens, traders, students, and daily commuters, while also providing long-term relief from chronic traffic congestion that has plagued the highway stretch for years.

Beyond improving road safety, the project is anticipated to streamline traffic flow and give a fresh impetus to commercial and business activities in the region. Improved connectivity and smoother transport are likely to contribute positively to Rajnandgaon’s economic growth and urban development.

The approval of this crucial project is being attributed to the sustained efforts, strong leadership, and unwavering commitment of Rajnandgaon’s MLA and Assembly Speaker, Dr Raman Singh. Under his guidance, the city has continued to achieve new milestones in development, with focused initiatives aimed at improving the safety and convenience of everyday life for residents.

Welcoming the decision, the Chamber of Commerce expressed heartfelt gratitude to Dr Raman Singh, describing the approval as a visionary and people-centric step. The Chamber stated that once completed, the project would strengthen trade and industry, enhance ease of movement, and help Rajnandgaon emerge as a modern and well-planned urban centre.

The Chamber of Commerce emphasised that the decision reflects the clear intent of the government and public representatives to prioritise citizen safety, infrastructure growth, and the city’s long-term future. The project is expected to play a defining role in reshaping Rajnandgaon’s identity as a progressive and development-oriented city.

Those expressing gratitude on behalf of the business community included State Patron of the Chamber of Commerce Khubchand Parakh; Kamlesh Baid, District President, Chhattisgarh Chamber of Commerce and Industries; Gyan Chand Bafna, Vinod Dadda, Alok Bindal, Bhiman Dhanwani, State Vice President Amar Lalwani; Tarun Lahrwani, State Minister; Arun Dulani, District General Secretary; Shiv Agrawal, Treasurer; chief advisors Roopchand Bhimanani and Raja Makhija; and executive members Yogesh Khatri and Chunky Agrawal, among others.
