In an ongoing crackdown on illegal paddy storage, the joint team of the Food and Revenue Departments carried out two major operations today under the supervision of Collector Smt. Tulika Prajapati and the guidance of Sub-Divisional Officer (Revenue), Manpur, Shri Amit Nath Yogi.

During a surprise raid at the residence of Gopal Rawte, a resident of Village Bhavsa in Manpur block, the inspection team discovered 223.20 quintals of illegally stored paddy within the premises. When questioned, Rawte claimed that the paddy belonged to Praveen Mandavi and Ramchandra Mandavi. However, neither he nor the alleged owners could present any valid documents to justify the storage. As a result, the entire stock was seized on the spot.

The action was executed with the involvement of Tehsildar Manpur Ms. Shubhangi Gupta, Naib Tehsildar Shri Dilip Sahu, Food Inspector Shri Hemant Nayak, and officials from the Revenue Department, who played key roles in the operation.

Inspection at Sahu Krishi Kendra Reveals Irregularities

On the same day, the inspection team conducted a sudden check at Sahu Krishi Kendra, Bharrítola. The team found that the fertilizer stock board, stock register, and price list were not updated. Additionally, discrepancies were observed between the physical stock and the entries recorded in the PoS machine.

Consequently, a show-cause notice has been issued to the center, demanding an explanation for the irregularities. Until a satisfactory response is submitted, the shop’s purchase and sale activities have been suspended for 15 days under provisions of the Fertilizer Control Order, 1985, and the Essential Commodities Act.

With the district administration intensifying its vigilance, further inspections are expected across the region to curb illegal storage and ensure regulatory compliance.
