“Swachhta Hi Seva” Campaign Promotes Cleanliness Drive in Kutulbodh-Bhatagaon Village

Community Participation and Awareness Activities Highlight Local Commitment to Sanitation

Under the “Swachhta Hi Seva” campaign, a one-day cleanliness program was organized in Kutulbodh-Bhatagaon village, Dongargaon Block, Rajnandgaon district. The event saw active participation from elected representatives, women, youth, and local residents, who collectively undertook a one-day, one-hour labor contribution to clean various areas of the village.

The program included solid and liquid waste management initiatives, single-use plastic-free activities, plantation drives, and awareness campaigns such as human chains and rallies involving school children, women, and villagers. District Panchayat Member, Smt. Vibha Sahu, emphasized that every Gram Panchayat must set an example in cleanliness to build a strong identity for Rajnandgaon. She highlighted that community participation at the Panchayat level is key to maintaining a clean village.

Chief Executive Officer of District Panchayat, Smt. Suruchi Singh, appealed to villagers to adopt regular cleaning habits at home and surroundings, pay timely sanitation fees, and implement innovative sanitation practices, to make Rajnandgaon a leading district in cleanliness.

Outstanding Panchayat representatives, women’s self-help groups, and schools were recognized for their exceptional efforts, and participants took a cleanliness pledge. The event was attended by Dongargaon Panchayat President and Vice-President, District Panchayat Members including Shri Somnath Sahu, District Coordinator of Swachh Bharat Mission (Rural) Dr. Chhote Lal Sahu, UNICEF representative Shri Basant Markandey, officials, staff, students, and a large number of villagers.

The campaign showcased community-driven initiatives that reinforce cleanliness, environmental stewardship, and public awareness, reflecting Rajnandgaon’s commitment to sanitation and civic responsibility.
