Under the leadership of Collector Smt. Tulika Prajapati, the district administration in Mohla has launched an innovative initiative to link rural youth with self-employment by providing them training in masonry. The program, conducted under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin), is proving to be a game changer by opening up new livelihood opportunities for young people while also speeding up housing construction in rural areas.

As part of this initiative, 200 youths from the district are undergoing a 30-day masonry training program. Separate targets of 100 trainees each have been allocated for Mohla and Manpur blocks, with training being organized in batches of 25 at the Gram Panchayat level to ensure maximum outreach. The training is designed to create skilled masons who can both secure employment locally and contribute to the timely completion of housing projects.

According to officials, the initiative is addressing two key challenges—providing employment opportunities for unemployed rural youth and resolving the shortage of masons, which had been slowing down construction work under the PMAY-G scheme. Beneficiaries are already witnessing positive results as trained youth are now engaged in construction activities at the local level.

Collector Prajapati emphasized that this skill-development program will not only increase income opportunities for rural youth but also ensure timely progress in rural housing construction.

Beneficiaries have expressed their happiness with the initiative. Shrimati Sukaru Bai, a PMAY-G beneficiary, shared her experience, stating that while she initially began building her house with government assistance, the lack of masons and laborers soon brought construction to a halt. However, with the launch of the training program, skilled masons and trainees have been working efficiently, and her dream home is now nearing completion.
