Impressive Wins and Star Performances Mark Chhattisgarh’s Dominance at the 15th Hockey India Sub-Junior National Championship in Ranchi

Chhattisgarh’s girls’ hockey team has delivered an outstanding performance at the 15th Hockey India Sub-Junior National Championship 2025, currently underway from July 3 to 14 at the Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Munda AstroTurf Hockey Stadium in Ranchi, Jharkhand.
According to Firoz Ansari, President of the Chhattisgarh Hockey Association, a total of 28 top teams from across the country are competing in this prestigious national-level event. Chhattisgarh has made an impressive mark early in the tournament with back-to-back wins.
In their opening match, Chhattisgarh faced West Bengal, registering a commanding 5-0 victory. Forward Shyamli Rai starred with a hat-trick (3 goals), while Twinkle Praja and Manpreet Kaur added one goal each. For her exceptional performance, Shyamli Rai was named Player of the Match.

In their second fixture against Tamil Nadu, Chhattisgarh continued their winning momentum with a hard-fought 2-1 win. Shyamli Rai and Dubi Rawat scored one goal each. Dubi’s strong play throughout earned her the Player of the Match honor in this game.
Team Coach and international hockey player Mrinal Chaubey praised the team’s aggressive approach and tactical execution. “Our girls displayed a fearless and attacking game against strong opponents. All goals were field goals, a sign of the team’s sharpness and coordination,” he said.
Manish Srivastava, Secretary of the Chhattisgarh Hockey Association, highlighted the team’s training journey. “We selected 28 players from various districts and held a rigorous training camp at the Rajnandgaon International Hockey Stadium. From there, the top 18 were chosen for the national championship squad.”

Defenders: Kesar Sahu, Anjali Ekka, Jigyasa Kashyap
Midfielders: Sudha Sahu, Shyamli Rai, Sarita Maurya, Smita Kujur, Sonakshi Yadav, Azmat Parveen
Strikers: Twinkle Praja, Dubi Rawat, Manpreet Kaur, Kavya Singh Thakur, Rashmi Nishad, Sanjana, Riya Khalkho
The coaching staff comprises Head Coach Mrinal Chaubey, Assistant Coach Dipesh Chaubey, and Team Manager Supriya Tigga.
