In a comprehensive review of the district’s health infrastructure, Rajnandgaon Collector Dr. Sarveshwar Narendra Bhure emphasized the critical need for regular and free antenatal check-ups and treatments for pregnant women under the Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan. Chairing the District Health Committee meeting at the Collectorate Conference Hall, Dr. Bhure outlined several key directives aimed at strengthening maternal and child healthcare in the district.

He stressed the importance of promoting institutional deliveries, which are crucial in reducing maternal and infant mortality rates. The Collector instructed health officials to identify high-risk pregnancies and provide special care and monitoring to such cases. “Our focus must be on ensuring timely check-ups and quality treatment for pregnant women,” he stated.

A key highlight of the meeting was a strong directive to ensure 100% utilization of Ayushman Cards in all district hospitals. Dr. Bhure said the treatment costs covered under the Ayushman Bharat scheme must be claimed efficiently and the resulting funds should be reinvested in hospital upgrades and resource development.

Instructions were given to fill staff shortages immediately, including the appointment of medical officers and nursing staff wherever required. Emphasizing patient-centric care, Dr. Bhure also advised all healthcare staff to maintain respectful and supportive behavior towards patients.

Further, he urged health officials to enhance the pace of immunization campaigns, ensuring all children receive their vaccines on time. Progress in screening and data entry related to non-communicable diseases such as diabetes was also reviewed. The Collector called for increased testing for TB and leprosy, and continued vigilance regarding COVID-19 through regular testing and precautionary measures.

Commending progress in certain areas, Dr. Bhure congratulated the health teams of Ayushman Arogya Mandir Singhola and Tilai for achieving national quality certification. He called for expanding sickle cell screening and ensuring the maintenance and timely completion of all ongoing hospital infrastructure projects.
