In a proud moment for the cultural community of Chhattisgarh, young Kathak dancer Prasiddhi Sinha, daughter of Mrs. Geetanjali Tushar Sinha and granddaughter of renowned Kathak Guru Dr. Krishna Kumar Sinha, has been selected for the National Cultural Talent Search Scholarship 2024–25 by the Centre for Cultural Resources and Training (CCRT), New Delhi.
Her selection was made under the Traditional Artist Family category for children aged 9 to 13, recognizing her dedication and lineage in the classical Indian dance form of Kathak.
Prasiddhi is the third generation in a family of Kathak maestros. With the blessings of her great-grandfather, Padma Vibhushan Pt. Birju Maharaj, and formal training under her grandfather Dr. Sinha, she began her dance journey at the age of just three. The cultural legacy passed on by her grandmother, mother, father, and aunt Harsh Bala Sinha, all dedicated to Kathak, has deeply shaped her passion and discipline.
Her grandfather, Dr. Krishna Kumar Sinha, is the founder of Chakradhar Kathak Kalyan Kendra (Sangeet Mahavidyalaya) in Rajnandgaon. For over 43 years, he has been committed to preserving and nurturing the Raigarh Durbar’s rich traditions of music and dance, training countless students in classical arts.
Prasiddhi’s remarkable achievement has been celebrated by well-wishers and the local artistic fraternity, who offered their blessings and congratulations for her bright future in classical dance.
