Assembly Speaker Dr Raman Singh and Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao Perform Bhoomi Pujan for Multiple Infrastructure Projects Across the City

Rajnandgaon city received a major development boost on Sunday with the bhoomi pujan of various infrastructure projects worth ₹43 crore 61 lakh 26 thousand, performed by Chhattisgarh Assembly Speaker Dr Raman Singh and Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao.
The projects include the construction of the state’s largest 2,000-seater auditorium, estimated to cost ₹15 crore 92 lakh. Several other development works, including roads, drains, electrification, drinking water infrastructure, crematorium upgrades and community buildings, will also be undertaken across different wards of the city.
Under the 15th Finance Commission Untied Grant, development works worth ₹12 crore 9 lakh 44 thousand will be carried out in various wards, including roads, drains and electrification. Infrastructure works worth ₹11 crore 57 lakh will include roads, drains, crematorium upgradation and construction of community buildings.
Under the Chief Minister’s announcement, road, drainage and community building works worth ₹1 crore will be undertaken in four wards. In addition, pipeline expansion works worth ₹3 crore 2 lakh 82 thousand will be executed in various wards under the drinking water management component of the 15th Finance Commission Tied Grant.

As part of the programme, 1,000 saplings were also distributed.
2,000-Seater Auditorium to Become Major Venue
Addressing the gathering, Assembly Speaker Dr Raman Singh described the proposed 2,000-seater auditorium as a historic achievement for Rajnandgaon.
He said the auditorium would have adequate facilities for large-scale events, along with parking and corridors. It will also have arrangements for around 1,000 people to sit and dine together.
The auditorium is expected to become a major venue for large events not only for Rajnandgaon but also for surrounding urban areas.
Dr Raman Singh said development works worth more than ₹43 crore are being undertaken in different wards of Rajnandgaon, covering roads, drains, CC roads, interlocking works, lighting arrangements and pipeline expansion.
He said development works across Rajnandgaon have gained momentum under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, with demands and proposals placed by public representatives being given priority for approval.
Dr Raman Singh also highlighted the need for an additional 10 MLD water treatment plant to strengthen drinking water arrangements in the Municipal Corporation area.
He further proposed construction of a shed and additional rooms behind the Govindram Nirmalkar Auditorium for weddings and other social functions of economically weaker and middle-class families.
Arun Sao Calls It a Historic Day for Rajnandgaon
Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao described the day as historic for Rajnandgaon city, saying the city had received development projects worth more than ₹43 crore.
He said that after the government was formed under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, Rajnandgaon Municipal Corporation had received approximately ₹267 crore through various schemes over the past two years for development works.
He said the state government was continuously undertaking planned initiatives to make cities across Chhattisgarh clean, beautiful and equipped with better facilities.
Sao urged the people of Rajnandgaon to resolve to make the city a national leader in cleanliness. He said that with joint efforts by citizens and the Municipal Corporation, Rajnandgaon could secure the first position in the country in cleanliness.
Major Road, Water and Beautification Projects Announced
Deputy Chief Minister Sao also provided information about several important development works for Rajnandgaon for which approvals are expected shortly.
He said approval of approximately ₹3 crore for beautification of Gandhi Chowk, Post Office Chowk, Nandai Chowk and other major intersections is under process.
A ₹14 crore plan has been prepared for the redevelopment of Rani Sagar and Budha Sagar ponds.
He said ₹6 crore 85 lakh would be approved for widening the road from GE Road to Lakhori scrap market, while ₹6 crore 90 lakh has been proposed for road construction from RK Nagar Chowk to Dongargaon Road.
Similarly, ₹5 crore 50 lakh has been proposed for widening the road from bypass Kanharpuri to Tiranga Chowk.
Sao also informed that approval would soon be provided for ₹4 crore for repair and renovation of the Mohara water treatment plant.
In addition, ₹12 crore 61 lakh would be approved for the construction of overhead tanks in Dhaba, Gaurinagar and Gokulnagar.
He said cleanliness is an important foundation of a city’s identity alongside development. He appealed to citizens to maintain cleanliness in their homes and surroundings, avoid dumping garbage in drains and on roads, and cooperate with the Municipal Corporation’s sanitation system.
He said the goal of making Rajnandgaon the country’s number one city in cleanliness could be achieved through collective efforts.
Sao added that under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, the state government is working continuously through planned initiatives for the overall development of cities in Chhattisgarh while fulfilling the guarantees of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Santosh Pandey Highlights Railway Development
Member of Parliament Santosh Pandey said the government had provided development projects worth ₹43 crore 61 lakh 26 thousand for Rajnandgaon city.
He said development works, including the Nalanda Campus, are being undertaken under the Rajnandgaon Municipal Corporation, while the Central and state governments are continuously working for the development of the district.
Pandey said the Central government is undertaking the laying of a new railway line from Permalkasa to Kharsia. He also said the fourth railway line has become operational.
The Rajnandgaon and Dongargarh railway stations are being developed as Model and Amrit Railway Stations.
He said construction of the underbridges at Gaurinagar and Station Para would be completed by December, while construction of the Motipur underbridge would begin soon.
Pandey also said approval has been given for a new railway line from Dongargarh to Katghora, with Dongargarh serving as its junction.

Describing Rajnandgaon as a land of talent, labour and hard work, Pandey said district athlete Gyaneshwari Yadav had brought pride to the country by winning a medal for India at the Commonwealth Games.
51 Wards Covered Under Development Plan
Rajnandgaon Mayor Madhusudan Yadav said bhoomi pujan had been performed for various development works worth ₹43 crore 61 lakh 26 thousand for the city.
He said Rajnandgaon already has an 800-seater auditorium, while bhoomi pujan had now been performed for the construction of a 2,000-seater auditorium at a cost of ₹15 crore 92 lakh.
He said the new auditorium would provide a well-organised venue for major events in the future.
The Mayor said development works have been taken up keeping in view the balanced development of all 51 wards of Rajnandgaon. These include works under the 15th Finance Commission worth ₹12 crore and ₹3 crore, ₹1 crore under the Chief Minister’s announcement for water supply, and ₹11 crore 57 lakh for infrastructure development.
A large number of public representatives, councillors, officials, employees and citizens were present at the programme.
Those present included Chhattisgarh Tourism Board Chairman Neelu Sharma, Labour Welfare Board Chairman Yogesh Dutt Mishra, District Cooperative Central Bank Chairman Sachin Baghel, Rajgami Sampada Trust Chairperson Purnima Sahu, Khubchand Parkh, Komal Singh Rajput, Santosh Agrawal, Ramesh Patel, Rajesh Shyamkar, Rajendra Golchha, Saurabh Kothari, Municipal Corporation Speaker Paras Verma, Superintendent of Police Ankita Sharma, District Panchayat CEO Durga Prasad Adhikari, among others.
