The Mukhyamantri Vishesh Swasthya Sahayata Yojana, run by the Government of Chhattisgarh, continues to offer a lifeline to patients suffering from complex and life-threatening diseases. Designed to support economically weaker sections, the scheme provides substantial financial assistance to eligible beneficiaries, enabling access to critical medical treatments that would otherwise remain unaffordable.
One such story of hope and recovery is that of Mr. Sadhuram Sahu, a resident of Mudpar village in the Rajnandgaon block. A farmer by profession, Sadhuram experienced sudden and severe back pain in January 2024 while working in his field. Initial diagnosis at the district hospital in Rajnandgaon revealed a serious spinal condition. Doctors recommended advanced treatment at a specialized facility.

Following medical advice, the family admitted Sadhuram to Balco Medical Centre in Raipur. There, he was diagnosed with a condition that required an urgent bone marrow transplant — a procedure estimated to cost between ₹15 to ₹17 lakh. For his agrarian family, this amount was beyond reach.
Relief came when the hospital staff informed the family about the Mukhyamantri Vishesh Swasthya Sahayata Yojana. After applying under the scheme, the Sahu family received financial assistance of ₹4.4 lakh from the state government. The aid proved to be nothing short of life-saving. In September 2024, Sadhuram underwent a successful bone marrow transplant at Balco Medical Centre, Naya Raipur.
Today, his health has significantly improved, though doctors have advised him to avoid strenuous activities and undergo periodic check-ups. His son, Mr. Amar Lal Sahu, expressed heartfelt gratitude, stating, “For us, this scheme was not just financial support; it was a rebirth for our father. Without the government’s help, his treatment would have remained a distant dream.”
The family has publicly thanked Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and the Chhattisgarh government for their timely intervention and continued commitment to accessible healthcare.
