In a shocking betrayal of national trust, the so-called “Raybareli Miracle” has unraveled into one of India’s most audacious scams, with over 50,000 fake birth certificates issued in a sinister plot to undermine the nation’s security. This scandal, centered in Uttar Pradesh’s Raebareli district, has exposed a web of corrupt government officials and unscrupulous individuals, now branded as traitors for their role in fabricating identities and potentially aiding illegal settlers. With 18 culprits already behind bars, the nation demands answers: how deep does this treachery run?
The scam, uncovered in July 2024, centered on 11 villages in Raebareli’s Salon block, where a staggering 52,000 fraudulent birth certificates were issued using the misused login credentials of Village Development Officer (VDO) Vijay Singh Yadav. The masterminds, including Mohammad Zeeshan, his father Riyaz, and brother Suhail, operated through Common Service Centers, exploiting the government’s Civil Registration System (CRS) portal to create fake identities for individuals from states like Bihar, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Punjab—many of whom were neither residents nor born in these villages. Shockingly, in Palhepur village, 1,700 certificates were issued to minority individuals despite only one minority family residing there, raising alarms of a broader conspiracy.

The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) swooped in, arresting 18 individuals, including the alleged mastermind Ravikesh, who operated fake portals like ‘www.crsogovr.in’ and ‘www.thedashboard.in’ to generate nearly 4 lakh fake birth and 5,000 fake death certificates across UP and Bihar. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) flagged the scam after recovering forged certificates from Bangladeshi nationals, hinting at a chilling possibility: these documents may have facilitated the settlement of illegal Rohingyas and Bangladeshis, with connections stretching to Kanpur, Prayagraj, Lucknow, and even Mumbai.

Local MLA Ashok Kumar dropped a bombshell, alleging Pakistan’s ISI and foreign funding fueled this racket, with fake voter IDs and Aadhaar cards enabling non-citizens to vote in Raebareli-Amethi’s Lok Sabha elections. “This is not just fraud; it’s treason!” roared social activist Jitendra Singh, who first raised the alarm. “These traitors sold India’s identity for a few thousand rupees, endangering our sovereignty!”

The scale of betrayal is staggering. In Nooruddinpur village, with a population of just 6,500, 10,000 fake certificates were issued, while Palhipur saw 13,707 fraudulent documents. Gram pradhans confirmed the beneficiaries were neither residents nor born in their villages, exposing the brazen impunity of the culprits. The police, led by Salon SHO Jitendra Pratap, have vowed to cancel all 52,594 forged documents, with a report sent to the Director General of Birth and Death Registration.

Public outrage is palpable. “These officials and their accomplices are traitors, plain and simple!” fumed Bhupendra Singh, a local panchayat member. “They’ve turned our villages into a playground for infiltrators!” Posts on X echo the fury, with users alleging a “vast network” settling non-Indians under the noses of bureaucrats, questioning how such a colossal scam went undetected for years.

As the ATS and NIA dig deeper, the nation grapples with unsettling questions. Were these corrupt officials mere pawns in a larger geopolitical game? How many more fake identities lurk in India’s databases? With 18 in jail, including VDO Vijay Yadav and CSC operators, the call for justice grows louder. “This is a wake-up call,” warned former UP DGP Brij Lal. “Our intelligence systems must root out every traitor involved.”

The Raebareli Miracle, once a phrase of hope, now stands as a monument to betrayal. As authorities race to dismantle this treacherous network, India demands accountability—and an end to the rot threatening its very foundation. Stay tuned as this scandal unfolds, exposing the true cost of greed and disloyalty.
