The discovery of a severed cow’s head in the Gauri Nagar area of Rajnandgaon on Wednesday morning triggered tension and protests by Hindu organisations and Bajrang Dal activists. The protesters demanded a thorough investigation and strict action against those responsible for the incident.
At around 2 pm, Bajrang Dal activists led by local leader Nandu Sahu gathered at Manav Mandir Chowk to condemn the incident and press for legal action. The protesters described the discovery of the remains as an affront to Hindu religious sentiments and expressed their anger over the matter.
During the demonstration, activists placed the severed head on the road as a mark of protest. As the situation became sensitive and concerns arose over a possible deterioration in public order, the police intervened.
