Representatives of the Gond community, the temple trust and the royal family have submitted a memorandum to the administration, seeking appropriate legal action against individuals allegedly spreading misleading information and rumours on social media ahead of the traditional Panchami Bhet Puja and related events in Dongargarh.
The memorandum was submitted on October 14, 2026, to the Sub-Divisional Officer (Revenue) and the Sub-Divisional Officer of Police in Dongargarh. The representatives urged the authorities to identify those circulating allegedly misleading posts and information that could disturb mutual harmony and create unnecessary tensions in the area.
Meeting Held to Ensure Peaceful Conduct of the Traditional Event
According to the memorandum, a meeting was held last week between representatives of the Gond community, the temple trust and Raja Bhawani Bahadur Singh to discuss the upcoming traditional Panchami Bhet Puja and associated programme.
The meeting reportedly resulted in a mutual understanding among all three parties regarding the successful and peaceful conduct of the event.

However, the memorandum alleges that certain individuals have been deliberately circulating misleading information and incorrect posts on social media platforms, particularly Facebook and WhatsApp. The representatives expressed concern that such content could create misunderstandings among the three parties and potentially escalate tensions.
Demand for Social Media Monitoring and Legal Action
The memorandum calls upon the administration to identify those responsible for spreading rumours and publishing posts that could undermine social harmony, and to initiate appropriate action under the relevant legal provisions.
The representatives also requested necessary monitoring arrangements to help maintain peace and law and order in the region ahead of the traditional religious programme.
Three Parties Emphasise Social Harmony
The memorandum bears the signatures of representatives of the Gond community, the temple trust and the royal family. All three parties emphasised the importance of ensuring that the traditional religious event is conducted peacefully and that social harmony is preserved.
The appeal seeks administrative intervention to prevent misinformation from creating unnecessary disputes and to facilitate the smooth conduct of the upcoming programme.
