The Viksit Bharat–VB-Jiramji Scheme is emerging as an effective initiative for generating employment and strengthening the economic condition of rural workers in Chhattisgarh. Under the scheme, the number of guaranteed workdays has been increased from 100 to 125 days, while the daily wage has been raised from ₹261 to ₹300, providing greater financial security to rural households.
Women workers from Farhad village in Rajnandgaon district say the enhanced employment opportunities and higher wages have significantly improved their standard of living.
More Employment, Better Income
Neeta Sahu, a beneficiary of the scheme, said she had earlier worked under the rural employment guarantee programme and is now employed under the VB-Jiramji Scheme.
She explained that the increase in employment from 100 to 125 days, along with the revised daily wage of ₹300, has helped her family meet daily household expenses, support her children’s education and manage other essential needs more comfortably.
She expressed gratitude to both the Central and State Governments for the initiative.
Additional Income Brings Financial Stability
Another beneficiary, Shashilata Yadav, said the scheme has expanded employment opportunities for rural labourers.
According to her, the longer employment period and increased wages have strengthened her family’s financial position. The additional income has enabled the family to meet household expenses more easily and has brought greater economic stability.
She appreciated the government for introducing welfare measures aimed at improving the livelihoods of rural workers.

Higher Wages Improve Household Security
Yamini Sahu, also from Farhad village, shared that she previously worked under the employment guarantee programme and is now benefiting from the VB-Jiramji Scheme.
She said the increase in workdays and wages has improved her family’s financial condition, allowing them to manage household expenses more effectively while providing a greater sense of economic security.
She thanked the Central and State Governments for implementing the scheme and described it as highly beneficial for rural families.
Strengthening Rural Livelihoods
According to the district administration, the VB-Jiramji Scheme is not only generating additional employment opportunities but is also helping rural workers improve their income, enhance their quality of life and move towards greater economic self-reliance.
By extending employment duration and increasing daily wages, the scheme aims to provide sustainable livelihood support and strengthen the socio-economic condition of rural households.
