In a major action against cyber crime, Rajnandgaon Police, under the ongoing Mission Cyber Suraksha campaign, have exposed a cyber fraud network operating through mule bank accounts. A joint team of the Cyber Cell and Kotwali Police Station arrested 14 account holders involved in the racket and sent them to judicial custody.

Police investigation revealed that the accused were allowing their bank accounts to be used for receiving money obtained through cyber fraud activities. Authorities detected suspicious financial transactions exceeding ₹50 lakh linked to multiple accounts.

Multiple Bank Accounts Misused

During the investigation, misuse of accounts belonging to several major banks came to light. These included accounts from Indian Overseas Bank, ICICI Bank, Canara Bank, Bank of Maharashtra, Axis Bank, State Bank of India (SBI), Indian Bank, Bank of Baroda, and Punjab National Bank.

The action was initiated based on intelligence inputs received through the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) portal operated under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.

The district-wide campaign is being carried out under the direction of Superintendent of Police Ankita Sharma as part of continuous efforts to curb rising cyber crimes.

Cases Registered Under Multiple Crime Numbers

Cases were registered under Crime Numbers 104/2025, 105/2025, 106/2025, 108/2025, 109/2025, 110/2025, 381/2025, and 437/2025 within the jurisdiction of Kotwali Police Station.

All 14 accused have been booked under Sections 317(2) and 317(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Police officials stated that individuals who provide their bank accounts, ATM cards, SIM cards, or cheque books to others for small monetary benefits unknowingly become accomplices in cyber crimes, which is a punishable offence under law.

Police Appeal to Citizens

The police have appealed to citizens not to share bank accounts, ATM cards, cheque books, or mobile SIM cards with anyone. People have also been advised not to fall prey to financial temptations or fraudulent offers that involve sharing personal documents.

Citizens have been urged to immediately inform the police if any suspicious transaction is detected in their accounts so that timely action can be taken.
