The “Lakhpati Didi” campaign, implemented with the vision of the Central Government and the commitment of the State Government, is now delivering visible results at the grassroots level. Reflecting the development agenda of the double-engine government, Singhola village in Rajnandgaon district is rapidly progressing toward becoming a 100 percent Lakhpati village, emerging as a strong example of women’s economic empowerment and self-reliance.
Under the leadership of District Collector Jitendra Yadav, the district administration has implemented the campaign in mission mode. Continuous monitoring and strategic guidance have begun producing measurable outcomes on the ground.
Mission-Mode Implementation Showing Results
During a visit to Singhola village, the Collector reviewed various livelihood activities being operated by women self-help groups and directly interacted with beneficiaries, encouraging them to expand their enterprises and enhance income opportunities. District Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Suruchi Singh was also present during the inspection.
The Collector advised women to diversify income sources, scale up businesses, and maximize the benefits available under government schemes. He interacted with more than 70 “Lakhpati Didis,” understanding their success stories and future expansion plans.
Women Entrepreneurs Leading Rural Transformation
During the visit, the Collector inspected the electric shop operated by Lakhpati Didi Laya Sahu and the plastic sack stitching unit managed by Anita Sahu, appreciating their entrepreneurial initiatives.
In Gram Panchayat Singhola, 318 women associated with 31 self-help groups are engaged in various income-generating activities, collectively driving the village toward economic self-sufficiency. On the occasion, five Lakhpati Didis were honored with certificates in recognition of their achievements.
Contribution to National Livelihood Goals
The initiative is part of the National Rural Livelihood Mission (Bihan), which aims to create three crore Lakhpati Didis across the country. In Rajnandgaon district alone, 39,771 women have already established sustainable income sources through diverse livelihood activities, significantly contributing to this national target.
Collective Effort Behind Success
Officials highlighted that the success of the programme demonstrates how effective leadership, coordinated teamwork, and proper implementation of government schemes can bring tangible social and economic transformation.
With Collector Jitendra Yadav’s leadership, coordinated efforts by district administration, Panchayat-level officers, and women self-help groups are producing encouraging outcomes across rural communities.
From Scheme to Social Movement
The women’s empowerment drive has evolved beyond a government programme into a powerful movement for socio-economic transformation. Singhola village now stands as a living example of how empowered women can strengthen not only their families but also the economic foundation of an entire community.
