With the financial year nearing its close, Mayor Madhusudan Yadav chaired a review meeting of the municipal revenue department and instructed officials to work toward achieving 100 percent tax collection. He also held discussions with shopkeepers and major defaulters regarding the payment of pending premium amounts and shop rent.

The meeting was attended by Municipal Commissioner Atul Vishwakarma, Corporation Chairman Topendra Singh Paras Verma, Revenue Department in-charge member Raja Makhija, members Sunil Sahu and Sawan Verma, and Revenue Officer Rajesh Tiwari, among others.

Door-to-Door Collection and Digital Payments Emphasized

Mayor Yadav directed all Revenue Sub-Inspectors and Assistant Revenue Inspectors to ensure door-to-door tax collection and to maintain direct contact with major defaulters to encourage timely payment of dues. He stressed the need for a structured action plan and suggested using QR codes to facilitate online payments for taxpayer convenience.

He noted that revenue collection had been affected over the past month due to staff deployment in Special Intensive Revision (SIR) duties, and with the financial year ending soon, intensified efforts were necessary. The Mayor also instructed officials to deploy dedicated staff at the revenue office to avoid inconvenience to taxpayers and to keep the office operational even during holidays for collection of property tax, water tax, consolidated tax, and shop rent.

Traders Assure Payment of ₹50 Lakh Dues

Following the Mayor’s instructions, major shop defaulters were called to the Mayor’s chamber for discussions. Shopkeepers from the Sarveshwardas School commercial complex, as well as those located near Putrishala and Subhash Gate, were invited to discuss pending premium payments.

Similarly, large rent defaulters were called on the following day, and after discussions, traders agreed to deposit nearly ₹50 lakh in outstanding dues. The Mayor also instructed technical officials to complete the remaining construction work at the Sarveshwardas School commercial complex at the earliest so that possession could be handed over to shopkeepers after payment. He further directed officials to call other defaulters, including those from Transport Nagar, for similar discussions.

Appeal to Taxpayers for Cooperation

Mayor Yadav stated that timely payment of municipal taxes such as property tax, water tax, consolidated tax, and shop rent ensures smooth salary disbursement for municipal employees and supports urban development projects. He appealed to all taxpayers to clear their pending dues promptly to avoid penalties or legal action and to contribute toward the city’s development.
